Where holidays like the transfiguration and Easter resurrection recall great miracles of God intervening in the world, today’s blessing of the grapes reminds us that, as I titled the last issue of Avedis, “God has no off switch.” His miracles are all around, from grapes to galaxies, he is so overwhelming present and part of everything, so omnipresent in creating and sustaining life, that we tend to take Him for granted.
August 17 is the Feast of the Assumption of the Holy Mother of God where we Bless Grapes immediately after Divine Liturgy (12:00 pm) and hold a BBQ picnic with music and games! Armenian style BBQ and side-dishes will be served. Cost for meal is $15 dollars for adults children under 5 are free. Tickets sold at the door. Anyone interested in volunteering should speak to Michael Sarafian at email@example.com. All are welcome to join us for fun and fellowship!Share
Thanks first and foremost to our hosts and benefactors Michael & Jean Shahnasarian, and also to our fundraising chair Chuck Sarkisian and gala event committee, we had an unforgettable celebration on May 9 2014 in support of the building of our church hall. Thanks also to the Gala planning committee Michael & Jean Shahnasarian, Chuck Sarkisian, Fr. Hovnan & Yn. Anna, David Kazarian, Eileen Barsamian (and our Gala emcee Aram Megerian).
Because of the hard work of the organizers and the generosity of all our gala attendees and those donors who could not be present, we raised upwards of $165,875 from all gala related activities including tickets, donations, naming rights auction, online auction and gap payments…
“With faith we shall build!”
